Bad information ruins lives. It harms our communities, by spreading hate through misleading claims. It hurts our democracy, by damaging trust in politicians and political processes. It leads to bad decisions, by disrupting public debate on the issues that most affect us, including climate change and public spending.

Factখুঁজি is an independent, non-partisan organisation that serves accurate and impartial information to the people, especially the netizens. It verifies false and suspicious information which are made public on the on and offline platforms including social media and mainstream media. 

It is operated from Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka.

We are committed to truth, accuracy, impartiality and transparency. We do campaign for safeguarding people’s right to know the truth. Besides, we train citizens to create awareness about misinformation, disinformation, mal-information, rumours, fake news, and falsehoods.

Factখুঁজি is motivated by the principles and guidelines adopted by the renowned international non-partisan fact-checking bodies. The core principles that we follow in our work are:  

Accuracy and Impartiality

We believe in serving accurate information before the people. We are non-partisan and not biased towards any groups.

Right to Know the Truth

We do respect people’s right to know the truth. We believe that accurate and truthful information helps people make informed decisions. However, we do not give our own opinion on any fact-checked issue but present facts and truths objectively before the audiences.

Transparency and Methodology

We are committed to disclosing the sources of information before our audiences. We also encourage our audiences to participate in the fact-checking process by themselves using the sources of information that we reveal. We also disclose the methods that we follow in verifying the facts.

Accountability to People

We are accountable to our audiences. At the same time, we are open to audiences’ opinion, comment, and criticism. We encourage our audiences to communicate with us whenever necessary.

Attribution and Correction

We acknowledge whoever voluntarily contributes to our fact-checking initiative. We admit our mistakes and correct them accordingly.

Transparency of Funding

As of now, we are running on our own funding. We would disclose the sources of funding to our audiences whenever we receive. We do not bow down to any influence.
