About Us

Factkhuji (Factখুঁজি) is an independent, non-profit fact-checking initiative in Bangladesh with a mission to uphold the facts through fighting misinformation and disinformation.

Started in mid-2020 by a small group of experienced journalists, Factkhuji is committed to provide readers of all ages with verified information.

In addition to fact-checking social media viral posts or stories, this digital platform aims to provide people with analytical articles about who spread fake news and rumours and why as well as the danger of spreading mis/disinformation in a society.

For verification, we talk to people over phone and in person and do not publish our stories without being sure about the authenticity. About individuals and organizations, we reach out to them for their comments and clarifications.

With a set of learning tools available on the Facebook page and website, we educate readers on how to check the authenticity of websites, photos, videos and viral social media contents.

Our fact-checking mechanism is simple; we apply some tools and technology with our basic journalistic sense and experience. We hold live discussions on Facebook and YouTube to update people about a spreading fake news or rumour or an issue that may create confusion among people.

Also, Factkhuji is developing a training module to improve fact-checking skills and techniques of journalists and youths.

All of these are aimed at making people aware about fake news, hoaxes and propaganda so that they refrain from unwittingly sharing or liking anything that is fake and ill-motivated. This way, Factkhuji can remove all the questions and confusions from the public sphere.

Our social media presence can be found on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
